Top App for Liver Health is LiverWELL

I recently got the chance to test – and can finally announce that my new top app for liver health is LiverWELL.

This screen shot shows the top half.

From our friends at Hepatitis Victoria, this is the newest technology in the liver disease, and Hepatitis community. I’ve been testing LiverWELL for a couple of weeks. It was a simple set up and so fun to use. Our friends in the Land Down Under have worked hard to design and make this available for FREE to all users.

First off, I love using health apps on my phone. After the diagnosis with Hepatitis C, I began to explore apps to help me sleep, remember my medications, check my heart rate, exercise, track my doctor visits and So So much more. It’s an addiction. Nothing that was available has even come close to this app for tracking liver health. Let’s get going!

Questions

Where can I get it?

In the itunes store, Apple, and Google App Store

Which devices can I use?

Any apple or android is compatible.

Who sees my personal information?

No one. It’s got Captcha protection so that no one can hack into your liver wellness information.

And more to come!

Look for the Living Well section to expand. It was super cool of Mark and Gayatri to let me play with it early. I’ve entered my data and am eager to show my medical staff.

For More Support

Watch my youtube and get ready for a facebook Live Event on how to work the details of the app. Also, email the team with any questions. You can also go to www.hepvic.org.au

I’m going to feel pretty cool going to the doctor next time. I usually write my notes out on paper and enter them into different apps. Now it’s ALL on one screen. I have always believed that a huge part of my medical care and recovery were because I was a “compliant” patient who always paid attention to my doctor’s orders. My health is my number one priority.

By keeping up with the Liverwell App, you are showing yourself, and your doctor, that you are going to do everything it takes to get better. That, my friend is a great first step to recovery from liver disease from any cause.

We’ve come a long way since I was diagnosed with end stage liver disease. First I went to a gatrointerologist for a sick liver. The hepatologist helped me to treat the virus. After all of that, my poor tired liver got hepatocellular carcinoma – liver cancer. So now I got to the post transplant clinic after getting a transplant.

My favorite top app for liver health is LiverWELL and you’re going to love taking better care of your liver with this supportive tool. The designers from Australia are super pumped and I’m so glad they made this available for everyone. Please give us some feedback. XO Karen

    1. Sweet friend, always faithful to be my first reader. I appreciate your loyalty and trust in all things liver health. We are doing it together!!!

  1. I am not one to leave comments – however, I just want to commend you. We just found out that my husband has stage four cirrhosis – he was diagnosed with Hep C decades ago, and decided to look into the treatment. But first they had to do a liver scan…? Anyway, one of the first things I read stated that end-stage death rate is within 1 to 3 years. I was HYSTERICAL! He is my everything. So reading that you have survived, that it is survivable, that it is not necessarily an immediate death sentence, lessened my hysteria.
Almost immediately after his cirrhosis diagnosis, I bought a juicer and looked up any and all recipes for cirrhosis. That is where I found you – a YouTube video about what to juice. And I read info below the video that gave this website.
He goes back in a couple days for another scan.
But I just real quickly wanted to say thank you! I look forward to reading more about your journey. God Bless You!!!

    1. First – I’m so sorry that your husband is struggling with liver disease. Your love for him surely comes through in your letter.

Second – I just told my husband this morning that I’ve got the urge to make more videos, but feel like they’re so “home made” and I wondered if people enjoyed them. Thanks so very much for responding to that nudge to write. It reaffirms that we all find ways of connecting with others in our time of greatest need.

I’ve been in your husbands shoes and having the support from you, along with information that is NOT scary and provides hope means a lot.

      Everything is possible.

If I can ever be of help, I’m just an email away..
      xo Karen

There are no FDA approved medications for those with fat MASH or MASLD liver disease. You can learn about the stages or find out where you are on the spectrum. I’ve beat liver cancer and love to encourage others to learn more about how the liver tries to heal itself. I’ve written for over a decade and have plenty of stories that can help you in your liver disease journey.

New Liver Language 2023: MASH and MAFLD

The global liver community chose new terms or nomenclature for the various types of liver diseases. The new terms are more accurate and also less stigmatizing for the patient. Although it will take time to work them into every area of the medical community, here is a copy for people who have liver disease to start with. There is no more NASH, it will be MASH, NAFLD becomes MASLD, MetALD is a new term, and SLD is the overarching term for steatosis.

Winter Solstice: A Quiet Moment of Light, Loss, and Gratitude

The ending of a year and the dawn of a new one holds so many symbols. It requires a day of its own. Today, on the longest night, I’m holding all of it—light, shadow, joy, ache, gratitude, and hope. Winter whispers that none of it has to be sorted or solved. It only needs to be felt.

The Heartbeat of TRIO: Finding Support Close to Home

Every organ transplant recipient and caregiver understands the journey: it is a marathon, not a sprint, and while the medical teams are brilliant, the emotional and logistical toll can feel isolating. I was actually making plans to purchase a rental property and run a non-profit for patients post-transplant when Lorrinda called me. She had a different vision. In fact, Lorrinda had already connected with TRIO National and was dedicated to starting a local peer support chapter—she sold me on the idea!

This critical need for local, consistent peer support is what led to the founding of the Transplant Recipients International Organization (TRIO) Oklahoma Chapter. Learn more here about TRIO.

Dr. Thomas Starzl: Father of Transplantation and TRIO

Dr. Thomas Starzl: Father of Transplantation and TRIO – I learned of this while preparing a presentation for The AASLD Liver Meeting. Lorrinda Gray Davis, who is the founder of Oklahoma’s TRIO Chapter just told me this week. We started our chapter with me as her first VEEP because we saw the need. I had literally no real support post transplant. During COVID, she went to work and the rest is history. Now she is president of TRIO International. But I’m getting ahead of myself. This story is about Dr. Starzl and what I imagine to be one of the greatest collision of ideas in medical history. What a man. What a great heart he has.
