5 Top Bone Broth Benefits for Liver Detox

You may have read about how much I use bone broth to be a soup starter. I want to add the 5 top bone broth benefits for liver detox and beyond. What got me going on this topic was using it as a prep for my endoscopy and colonoscopy a few weeks ago. I used the prep, which is really the worse part of the whole ordeal. I also began a soft diet 3 days before the procedure and then drank bone broth to keep my strength up during that whole week. After all that I feel better than ever and know that the detox was good for me.

You may want to heat your bone broth in a mug and sip it. Others may want it chilled. I prefer room temperature. I shake the carton and pour it right in a cup and drink it down. There is no sipping for me. I’m a chugger. For some reason, the flavor is not something that I savor. Seriously, I’m doing this for the health benefits alone. And let me tell you, there are SO many benefits.

5 Top Bone Broth Benefits for Liver Detox

Gut Health – if you have a digestive disease such as Irritable Bowl Syndrome or IBS, your can get relief by drinking bone broth. It can help reduce the pain and symptoms from too much fiber or tummy allergens. Look for relief from gas, acid reflux, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea.

Mineral Miracle – We get a lot of trace minerals in food. I also take a multi-vitamin supplement and hope you take liver healthy vitamins too. However, if you drink bone broth, you can get a healthy dose of everything. Magnesium is necessary to help stop leg cramps, and it also contains good amounts of calcium, potassium, phosphorous, electrolytes and other minerals.

Bone Strength and Protein – Just like it’s name, it does build strong bones, ligaments, joints, and tendons. I have battled pain and injury in all those areas. Chemotherapy and medications gave me some major dysfunction in my body. I combat it with exercise like yoga and Tai Chi. Getting good weight bearing and feeding your bones is the best thing the world for you.

When your muscles are weak, try bone broth. We need healthy protein with liver disease and this one is an easy peasy way to get it. If you add a couple of vegetables, it’s even tastier. I just finished a cabbage, carrot, potato, and ham soup cooked with 2 cups of bone broth plus water. I put the cabbage on last and let it steam with a tight lid. Making beans? Cook everything you cook in the crock pot, instapot or stove top in bone broth!

Detox Your Liver and Clean Your Gut

Detox – A safe and easy way to clean out your digestive system is to slow down on simple sugars for a few days and drink bone broth. I am a big believer in high fiber meals all day long. I also eat several small meals a day. It’s the way my body worked well while I had Hepatitis C for decades. In fact, I often only had bone broth as a meal to prevent brain fog. I didn’t even know my liver was sick, but it was clear that my brain and body felt better when I dropped simple sugars and went for a simple protein meal like bone broth. Your doctor can guide you, especially if you have hepatic encephalopathy.

Beauty – Again, health issues can cause dull hair or hair loss, nail breakage, and saggy skin. Collagen is your answer. Some people stir the while powder bone collagen into their coffee or protein shake. I do too! A cup of bone broth a day is the simple way to take care of your hair, skin, and nails. It makes you look wonderful, and that makes you feel wonderful too.

If you’re struggling with a diagnosis of liver disease, there are a lot of Phooey answers for symptoms out there on the internet that you should ignore. Eat well, stay as active as possible, continue making lifestyle changes, and you can do this!

Tell Your Medical Team

Run it by your doctor first. Tell your medical team that you plan to drink bone broth to get your gut and gastro system and liver detox healthy. Be sure and make this soup recipe using bone broth and let them know you plan on eating only cooked veggies and bone broth for a few days.

You can keep this up for longer. I would suggest a minimum of 2 days. Be sure to drink a lot of water and hot tea. Get plenty of rest. Wait until there is nothing important on your calendar. Make it a pampering time. Do some stretches or Tai Chi from my youtube channel or facebook private room. Sleep sleep sleep. There are actually ingredients in bone broth that help you to rest better.

I hope this helps you feel better. Try a cup a day and see if you want to incorporate more into your diet in the future. Bone broth can be an important part of your wellness plan to live longer stronger with liver disease. xo Karen
