I’m Thankful today. I’ve been writing like crazy since starting my blog. Maybe pouring out torrents of words is helping me to put the last 2 years into perspective. Beating hep c and then realizing that my liver was still shot was a bit of a slap in the face.

The last 2 Thanksgivings were tough as I made dietary adjustments and wandered into my family’s homes just to sleep.  “What happened to Aunt Karen”, was asked in loud whispered voices quite a bit. Not that I noticed. I was swollen, anemic, and grasping life with a tight fist.

Just picked!

This year was much more relaxed. A big breakfast with the family. Then we came home and enjoyed a roasted chicken stuffed with sage and celery to rival any turkey! Baked sweet potatoes with brown sugar were on the side. I even broke out some cheesecake. Later the kids came by for frozen yogurt with blueberries and raspberries.

For me, it’s been a time of true reflection. The Indian Summer weather allowed me to walk outside and enjoy a hazy blue sky and walk in crunchy leaves. I’ve learned a little about social media. I’ve had a few visitors to my website. I’m glad and feel that if even one person learned something that made their journey easier, I’m thankful. For that and sooo much more…. like these beautiful Chrysanthemums. Karen 🙂
